What Overhead is

Overhead, made and run by Wilfred Schmidt, draws the airliners at Los Angeles International Airport live in 3-D and broadcasts them on the LAX Plane Spotters YouTube channel. This website describes it. By watching the broadcast, using its chat commands or using this website, you agree to these terms.

Not for navigation or safety

Positions come from public receiver networks and can be late, missing or wrong. Routes, aircraft types and airlines are shown as best known and can be wrong on the day. The 3-D scenes are reconstructions, not camera pictures. Never use Overhead for navigation, flight planning, safety or any decision that matters.

The chat commands

• The commands are offered for fun, as available. A request can wait, be joined with others, go to the main screen or not run at all.
• One request per viewer every 90 seconds. Don't flood the chat or try to get around the limits.
• The operator and the channel's moderators can pause the commands or block accounts that abuse them.
• The live chat is part of YouTube: the YouTube Terms of Service and YouTube's community guidelines apply to everything you write there.

Names and trademarks

Airline names, logos and liveries belong to their owners. Overhead is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any airline, airport, YouTube or Google. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors. Other sources and their licences are listed on the sources page.

No warranty

Overhead, its broadcast and this website are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. The broadcast may stop, change or end at any time. To the extent the law allows, Wilfred Schmidt is not liable for any loss arising from their use.
